Let’s imagine that you just discovered a slow leak in one of the tires on your automobile. Do you fill it up with air without checking for the actual problem? This will help for a while, but soon the air will leak out again. Is the answer to keep replacing the air every few hours: of course not. This does nothing to correct the cause of the tire constantly becoming flat. The reason air leaks our of the tire is because a nail or piece of glass  has  embedded  itself  in  the  tread,  or  perhaps  the  tire  is  just  plain  worn  out.

The  only  practical solution is to take the tire to a service station that specializes in tires and have a patch put over the hole or replace the tire. Unfortunately when our body becomes sick we can’t replace it, but we have tried to patch it with pills, potions, and prescriptions only to find our health sliding down hill. Just as a nail is the cause of a flat tire a pinched nerve or misalignment in the spinal column is the cause of disease and sickness in the human body.

There is an inborn intelligence inherent in the body that directs, coordinates and controls all actions and functions. This  inborn  intelligence  is  an  energy  that  emanates  from  the  brain  and  is  distributed  to  the various organs and tissues of the body through the nervous system. As long as the nerve impulses flow freely over this intricate network of nerves, the body enjoys good health because each organ receives the exact amount of energy required by it to function perfectly. The spinal cord, which is actually an extension of  the  brain  runs  through  the  entire  length  of  the  spinal  column,  or  backbone.

Nerves  extend  from  the spinal  cord  and  exit  through  holes  between  the  24  movable  vertebra.  From  there,  they  branch  out  and form the connecting link between the brain and every organ, tissue and cell in the body. If the bones of the spine  become  misaligned,  pressure  is  put  on  the  delicate  nerve  trunks  and  the  flow  of  nerve  energy  is impinged. When this occurs, sickness and disease will begin to form in the organ that’s affected by the misalignment.

It is imperative for a chiropractor to locate and remove these dangerous misalignments in the spinal column. When this is done, the body will return to a state of good health and will be able to maintain high resistance so important for the prevention of disease.
